Sonos is clearly looking to get more of their gear into our homes, and their latest move is hitting the price tag on two key players: the Era 100 smart speaker and the entry-level Ray soundbar. The Era 100, which launched at $249, is now down to a more tempting $199. But the Ray gets an even bigger cut, dropping a solid $80 from its original $279 price tag. While you could often find these discounted, this price drop is permanent. Smart play, Sonos.
The Era 100 is their mainstream speaker, a solid upgrade over the old Sonos One with stereo sound, line-in and Bluetooth, and better controls. At this new $199 price point, it feels like an even easier entry into the Sonos ecosystem. The Ray soundbar, while lacking HDMI and Dolby Atmos, still punches above its weight compared to built-in TV speakers, making it a decent, no-frills option for smaller setups. Former Sonos CEO even admitted it wasn’t blowing up sales charts, so this price correction feels right.
With Sonos still working to smooth out their app after that less-than-stellar update last year, focusing on getting more hardware out there at a better value seems like a smart way to win back some fans and maybe hook some new ones. We’ve always loved Sonos’ sound quality and easy whole-home integration, so if you’re looking to level up your sound without breaking the bank, this is a can’t miss.
