Sound bars promise big sound within a single, simple package. With nine drivers, new Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Plus promises some of the biggest sound possible from an all-in-one solution.
Drivers in the Ambeo Soundbar Plus includes two 4-inch woofers, plus seven full-range aluminum drivers. Two of these drivers are upward-firing and work with the bar’s 3D surround sound processing, which includes both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. There are two drivers that fire sideways and three that fire forwards. The result is the feeling of an immersive, 7.1.4 channel surround sound system. Sennheiser also lets you pair the bar with it’s new Ambeo Sub subwoofer, which is a $700 upgrade.
There are plenty of ways to connect the Ambeo Soundbar Plus to your system, thanks to three HDMI ports, one eARC, and two regular HDMI inputs, alongside optical and traditional RCA. It also streams via Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Chromecast. It also works with Alexa and Siri.
At $1,499 the Ambeo Soundbar Plus isn’t for everyone, but it could be a great option for audiophiles wanting cinematic home theater sound without the traditional surround sound speaker setup. You can pre-order yours here.
