If you want to make your home theater more dramatic, don’t forget the lighting. And that’s made easy with the new Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, which lets you sync your living room’s Philips Hue lighting with your TV.
After plugging into your TV and video sources, which includes streaming devices and/or Blu-Ray players, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box analyzes the color data from HDMI signals and then wirelessly sends information to your Philips smart lights. In response, the the lights will brighten or dim and change color to reflect those signals. Of course you need a an existing Hue system in order to use this device, but it’s a clever device for heavy streamers and film buffs who want to experience full cinematic immersion.
The Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box goes on sale October 15th for $230.
