Nintento’s original headquarters in Kyoto, Japan, has been transformed into the Marufukuro Hotel.
In 1889, craftsman Fusajiro Yamauchi founded Nintendo, producing handmade hanafuda playing cards. The headquarters has been vacant since 1959 when Nintendo moved to a larger building.
Revitalized by architects Tadao Ando and Plan Do See, the retro hotel features 18 guest rooms. Tile fireplaces, plaid rugs, rich woods, and custom wallpaper, add to the swanky atmosphere. You’ll also find a restaurant, bar, spa, lounge and gym on-site. Art and other accents in the hotel pay homepage to the property’s pre-video game heritage.
