Japanese retailer Muji is known for producing everything from clothes to stationery to furniture — all with an emphasis on simplicity and function. The company is also jumping into home design, and its new Hut may be the perfect dwelling for the hardcore minimalist. At just 96 square feet, this modern, simple structure provides enough space to house one person comfortably.
Although it may be sparse, the Hut features a large floor-to-ceiling glass sliding door to fill the interior with light and lend an airy feel. There’s another window on the back of the house to provide additional light or circulation.
Other features include a small patio out front for outdoor lounging. The exterior is also adorned with burned hardwood that naturally resists the weather and ensures easy maintenance. This prefabricated structure is designed to be built virtually anywhere. Unfortunately, when it goes on sale this Fall for the equivalent of about $27,000, it will only be available in Japan.
