When a company’s been making watches for 185 years, it ends up with a very large pool of inspiration to drawn from when making a new product. For Longines, the newest addition to its Heritage collection is a classic pilot’s watch taking inspiration from ones it made in the 1930s and 1970s. The new watch also pays homage to the company’s very long relationship with aviation.
Longines’ Avigation BigEye is a tasteful chronograph with a central 60-second hand, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. Like a proper pilot’s watch, it’s also got an easy-to-read dial with large, SuperLuminova-coated Arabic numerals.
Inside is Longines’ Caliber L688 movement and it has a power reserve of 54 hours. It also has a 41mm steel case, sand-blasted and rhodium-plate hands for a rustic look, domed sapphire crystal with several layers of anti-reflective coating, and a brown calf leather strap.
Longines’ Avigation BigEye Chronograph is available now for a reasonable $2,625.
