Jaguar was late to the SUV market when it introduced its first offering, the F-Pace, when it went on sale last year. Despite its tardiness, the F-Pace quickly became one of British luxury brand’s best-selling vehicles.
Looking to repeat its success, Jaguar is already set to launch its second SUV, this time an entry-level compact called the E-Pace. Borrowing styling from the stunning F-Pace, the all-new E-Pace is a looker that also features the same muscular haunches found on the F-Type.
Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces either 246-horsepower or 296-hp, depending on the model. In all applications, this engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. All models will feature all-wheel drive as standard equipment.
Other features on the Jaguar E-Pace include the brand’s venerable InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, a 12.3-inch full color TFT dashboard display, optional 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, adjustable driver settings via an optional Configurable Dynamics technology system, and optional 21″ wheels.
Another option on the E-Pace is an Activity Key — a wearable water- and shockproof key that allows drivers to leave their key fob inside their vehicle while running, surfing, biking, or doing other activities outside the vehicle.
Jaguar’s 2018 E-Pace will be available in the fall with a base price of $38,600, or about $3,500 less than the base F-Pace. The E-Pace is priced similarly to the the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, Acura RDX, and Lexus NX, giving compact luxury crossover buyers yet another solid choice to consider.
