Detroit-based furniture brand Floyd has released something mid-century modern design aficionados are going to love.
First, a little history—in 1954 designer Hugh Acton, who’s perhaps best known for his 1973 Acton Stacker chair design, created the Acton Slat Bench. Composed of walnut slats atop a set of chrome legs, the stylish piece has long been a cult favorite, with vintage examples going for as much as $10,000 today.
Floyd’s new Acton Slat Bench reissue is faithful to the original’s design, and includes choice of solid walnut or solid oak slats — both sustainably sourced. You can also select between aluminum legs finished in chrome or powder-coated black.
The new and improved Acton Slat Bench is available now from $1,185. Floyd also offers an optional cushion for the bench, a $250 add on.
