BMW’s line of “sports activity vehicles” blend on-road driving dynamics with all-weather, all-around versatility. The brand’s unique take on the SUV has been met with strong sales, which is why BMW has decided to add yet another one to its ranks, the all-new X2.
Part coupe, part SUV, the BMW X2 xDrive28i will launch with a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four, producing 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which is enough for a 6.3-second 0-60 time. The X2 can also be had in an M Sport X configuration, which adds paddle shifters, a lower sport-tuned suspension, and other elements from the performance-oriented M line.
In addition to offering BMW’s venerable xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system for light off-road tasks, some of the other available niceties on the X2 include full-LED headlights, panoramic roof, rear deck spoiler, 19- or 20-inch wheels, a host of driver assistance systems, and a full-color Head-Up Display.
Look for the BMW X2 when it goes on sale next spring. It’s expected to be priced around $35,000, helping it take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q2.
