Arc’teryx, those wizards of technical outerwear, just unleashed their Vertex Speed trail runners, and these things look seriously dialed. They’re calling it a hybrid design built for crushing mountain runs, but get this – they’ve also baked in features that make ’em legit for scrambling and light climbing. Smart move.
The upper’s crafted from some abrasion-resistant Matryx weave that’s light but tough, and the lacing system is designed for a snug, no-slip fit in the midfoot. Little details we dig: a tongue pocket to stash your laces (no more snags!) and TPU reinforcements for extra protection. The high-cut version even has a built-in stretch gaiter to keep the grit out. Underfoot, you’ve got a dual-density midsole for all-day comfort and a Vibram Megagrip outsole with LITEBASE tech for sticking to just about anything.
Whether you’re bombing downhill trails or tackling some exposed rock, the Vertex Speed ($180) looks ready for it. They just landed online and in Arc’teryx stores, so go check ’em out if your current footwear isn’t cutting it on the gnar.
