Toyota is gearing up to launch the next-generation Prius. The new hybrid is more efficient, more powerful, and surprisingly it’s a looker.
The fifth-generation Prius will be offered with two powertrain options including a 2.0-liter Plug-In Hybrid System that delivers 219 horsepower and an EV driving range that is 50% higher than the previous model. Toyota says this powertrain will propel the new Prius from 0 to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds.
There’s also the non-plug-in version that comes with a 2.0-liter engine offering the same fuel efficiency as the original while offering enhanced performance and responsiveness. The latter will also be available with an E-Four all-wheel-drive system.
For 2023, the dashboard inside is still mostly screen, but overall the interior is more refined. Other features include half a dozen USB-C ports and the Toyota Audio Multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, not to mention a slew of standard safety features.
Toyota will be making more announcements before the end of the year on pricing and availability of the 2023 Prius.
