In 2020, Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, initiated a project to develop a unique ultra-performance concept car based on the Polestar 2. Know as “The Beast,” this factory-built one-off provided the groundwork for the BST edition 270 of the Polestar 2, which was released in 2022. With the success of the edition 270, Polestar is now revisiting with another special edition Polestar 2 fastback EV.
The new Polestar Engineered BST edition 230 offers the same lowered ride height and adjustable suspension as the prior edition 270. For power, it utilizes a 350-kw (476-hp) dual-motor electric powertrain and produces over 500 ft-lbs of torque, allowing it to go from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds. This improved performance is due to a special upgrade software that also features a launch control function.
The BST edition 230 of the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor is enhanced with more than 150 upgrades, including two exclusive livery options, a Space or Nebula finish, gloss black mirror caps, a SmartZone front-end, color-matched side skirts and lower sills, and an optional matte stripe and race number on the hood. It also features blacked-out, forged and diamond-cut 21″ staggered alloy wheels with bespoke Pirelli P-Zero tires, and comes with the Polestar Pilot Pack, Performance Pack and Plus Pack all as standard. Inside, the car is appointed with Charcoal-colored MicroSuede upholstery with yellow seatbelts and MicroSuede steering wheel inserts.
The 2023 edition of the Polestar BST 230 will be available in a limited quantity of 230 in the third quarter of 2023. Pricing has yet to be released and is expected to start around $75,000.
